Basketball Recap: Weldon Comes Up Short

Weldon played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Northampton County Jaguars, falling 70-50. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now lost six in a row.

It was another big night for Jiyoun Williams, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and four steals for Northampton County. That's the most assists Williams has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Meki Ransome, who made all 5 shots he took to post 12 points and seven rebounds.

Weldon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Northampton County, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Weldon will challenge KIPP P at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northampton County, they will take on Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Rocky Mount Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
