Preview: Elmwood-Murdock Knights vs. Logan View/Scribner-Snyder
Elmwood-Murdock is 5-0 against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Elmwood-Murdock is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in Nebraska (Elmwood-Murdock is ranked 14th, while Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is ranked 224th).
Elmwood-Murdock fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Sacred Heart on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Irish by a score of 42-40. Elmwood-Murdock's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Elmwood-Murdock saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Goudie dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Delaney "laney" Frahm was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Elmwood-Murdock were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 34-16 to David City. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Logan View/Scribner-Snyder has scored all season.
Elmwood-Murdock's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-1. As for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Elmwood-Murdock was able to grind out a solid victory over Logan View/Scribner-Snyder in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 37-28. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Logan View/Scribner-Snyder's Grace Schlueter, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Elmwood-Murdock to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
