League recap: Nacogdoches rises in state rank

4A Region II District 16 recap September 17, 2013

Nacogdoches moved up to 177 from 355 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 16. The Dragons were able to make move up by besting Lufkin 28-24.

Corsicana took down Forney 66-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Whitehouse's dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Coleman Patterson proved tough for Sulphur Springs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mahomes threw for 384 yards and 4 touchdowns and Patterson had 214 yards receiving. Jake Parker helped Whitehouse's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 79 yards.

The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Mahomes and Patterson proved to be unstoppable against the Wildcats, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Patterson was the best wideout in the league this week as Whitehouse bested Sulphur Springs.

Geovari McCollister was the best running back in the league this week. In 13 carries, he ran for 100 yards as Tyler beat Greg Owens' team. Jeremy Wilson also contributed to the rushing game with 57 yards on the ground.

Mahomes put up the best numbers in passing as the Wildcats defeated the Wildcats.

He was 17-36 with 0 interceptions.

Patterson had a great week catching the football as Whitehouse beat Sulphur Springs.

Lindale and Van played the closest game in 4A Region II District 16 this week, with Lindale eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory.
