Softball Game Preview: Seton Catholic Sentinels vs. Odyssey Institute Minotaur

The Seton Catholic Sentinels will head out on the road to challenge the Odyssey Institute Minotaur at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Seton Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Seton Catholic earned a 6-2 victory over Florence. The win continues a trend for the Sentinels in their matchups with the Gophers: they've now won three in a row.

Brooke Zuluaga made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Zuluaga wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Abbey Cota, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Nellie Garcia also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Odyssey Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 16-0 to River Valley.

Odyssey Institute's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Seton Catholic, their record now sits at 10-3-2.
