Basketball Recap: Thomas MacLaren School Takes a Loss

Thomas MacLaren School suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Peyton Panthers 81-54. The defeat continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Thomas MacLaren School's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lance Mathews, who posted four points in addition to 13 boards, seven assists, and five blocks. Mathews has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Stokes, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Peyton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Perry, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten assists. With that strong performance, Perry is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Gatti, who went 7 for 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 23 points.

Thomas MacLaren School now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Peyton, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
