Baseball Recap: Seymour Extends Winning Streak to Four

Seymour extended their postseason success on Wednesday against Waupaca. They won by a run and slipped past the Comets 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Thunder sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Colten Nieland made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Brayden Banker tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brandon Poch, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Salzman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Seymour's win bumped their record up to 23-3. As for Waupaca, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.

As of now, neither Seymour nor the Comets have any future games scheduled.
