Softball Game Preview: West Central Trojans vs. Frontier Falcons

The West Central Trojans will square off against the Frontier Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in West Central's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Frontier has been banged up by 16 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

West Central came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-1 to Kankakee Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Trojans have suffered since April 10th.

Meanwhile, Frontier came up short against Benton Central on Monday, falling 12-2.

Frontier saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Summer Kremer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Kremer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

West Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Frontier, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.

Frontier's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Frontier, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given West Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Falcons will need to find a way to close that gap.

West Central took their win against Frontier in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 20-0 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
