Basketball Game Preview: Southridge Spartans vs. Coral Springs Colts

The Southridge Spartans will take on the Coral Springs Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Southridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They secured a 54-50 W over Coral Park. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Rams are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southridge can attribute much of their success to Deandre Hardy, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, and O'Cien Valdes, who went 7 of 16 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance gave Hardy a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mykel Underwood, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, Coral Springs came up short against St. Thomas Aquinas on Friday and fell 72-59. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Southridge will have to contain Alex Pierre-Louis as he made an impact in Coral Springs' last game. He went 10 for 19 to rack up 22 points and five boards. The contest was Pierre-Louis' seventh in a row with at least 15 points. Jevah Chervin was another key player, putting up nine points.

Coral Springs' loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Southridge, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
