In other batting news, Richard Winn Academy got a massive performance out of Johnathan Bonds, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Bonds a new career-high in hits. Charlie Bonds was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, everything went Northside Christian Academy's way against Briarwood Academy on Monday as Northside Christian Academy made off with a 9-2 win. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Like Richard Winn Academy, Northside Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Luke Bohnsack. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. What's more, Bohnsack gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Northside Christian Academy is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Easton McCutchan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Northside Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Will Spotts, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Richard Winn Academy pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Northside Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Richard Winn Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Northside Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .486. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
