Baseball Recap: Westinghouse Warriors vs. Northside Mustangs
Westinghouse had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it six. They lost 19-7 to the Northside Mustangs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Myles McElrath made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Navarrete, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Northside, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The result was nothing new for Northside, who have now won 12 games by six runs or more so far this season.
On Northside's side, Jesse Nick and John Piper did most of the damage at the plate: Nick fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances, while Piper went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Nick is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Tyler Weigand was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
