Football Game Preview: Granby Memorial/Canton Bears vs. Capital Prep/Achievement First Trailblazers

The Granby Memorial/Canton Bears will head out to square off against the Capital Prep/Achievement First Trailblazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Granby Memorial/Canton fought the good fight in their overtime game against Ellington on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 37-35. The Bears were up 14-0 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Meanwhile, Capital Prep/Achievement First was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by North Branford and fell 42-6.

Capital Prep/Achievement First's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Granby Memorial/Canton, they suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 4-3.

Granby Memorial/Canton came up short against Capital Prep/Achievement First in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 14-8. Thankfully for the Bears, Hashim Jones (who rushed for 182 yards and one TD while picking up 9.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
