Avery County and Mitchell are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Vikings will head out to take on the Mountaineers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Avery County has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Avery County came up short against Mountain Heritage last Thursday, falling 14-1. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mitchell's offense. They lost 14-0 to Madison on Thursday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Mountaineers were not able to get on the board.

Mitchell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Silver, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Avery County's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Mitchell, they dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Avery County couldn't quite get it done against Mitchell in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-7. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
