Baseball Recap: Wolverine Wildcats vs. Boyne Falls Loggers

Wolverine had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-2 to make it seven. They lost 14-6 to the Boyne Falls Loggers. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Loggers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Boyne Falls' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for their hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
For Boyne Falls' part, Vincent Cousineau was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Cousineau has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season.
In other batting news, Chace Rose was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Hayden Byrd was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
While Wolverine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
