Basketball Game Preview: Dan River Wildcats vs. Chatham Cavaliers

The Dan River Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Chatham Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Dan River's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 matches.

On Friday, Dan River blew past William Campbell, posting a 74-35 victory. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Generals are ranked 352nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Chatham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-66 heartbreaker at the hands of Gretna. That's two games in a row now that the Cavaliers have lost by exactly three points.

Dan River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Chatham, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Dan River didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Chatham in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 68-64 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dan River since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
