Todd helps Interlake become a running team and finishes season with 2,769 yards.

Jordan Todd, a senior from Interlake (Bellevue, Wash.), broke the Washington 11-man single-season rushing record Saturday during a 55-28 loss to unbeaten Lynden (Wash.) in the Washington Class 2A state quarterfinal bracket.

The 5-foot-7, 180-pound senior running back carried 35 times for 359 yards and three touchdowns while also scoring on a 54-yard punt return. He finished his season with 2,769 yards. The previous record, 2,676 yards by Matthias Wilson of Ferndale (Wash.), had stood since 1997.

Though playing at a Class 2A school, he faced 4A and 3A schools during the entire regular season.

Interlake coach Jason Rimkus pointed to Todd as the person who has changed the look of the Saints' attack.

Rimkus told MaxPreps, "He changed the culture of a program that only threw the ball to a ground game that was tough against everybody. He had games where he was just unstoppable. The biggest thing (bigger than the record) was the way he handled everything. It kind of showed the character of our program. Jordan didn't care about that record. He was in tears the whole game."

Despite the loss, Rimkus said he asked the referee for the game ball and gave it to Todd.

"Jordan is just excited about his future," Rimkus said. "He isn't worried at all. He's just living in the moment."

Todd was scouted by Division II Central Washington during his final game.

"They really like him," Rimkus said. "I think people are afraid because he is short and I think they are making a mistake."
