Recap: Wray Eagles vs. Y Yuma

The Wray Eagles entered their tilt with the Y Yuma with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Wray sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 victory over Y on Friday. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Wray was the better team in the second half.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wray to victory, but perhaps none more so than Danyelle Davis, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and five blocks. That's the first time this season that Davis posted two or more blocks. Sharon Greek was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with two steals and two blocks.

Y's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Taryn Sheffield, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, and Alina Moran who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Sheffield is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.

Wray now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Y, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wray won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dayspring Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Dayspring Christian Academy is ranked 73rd, while Wray is ranked 95th). As for Y, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Peyton at 1:30 p.m. on January 27th. Peyton will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
