Basketball Game Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Northgate Broncos

Campolindo is 9-1 against Northgate since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Campolindo Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Northgate Broncos at 7:30 p.m. Campolindo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, Campolindo earned a 46-36 win over Irvington. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Vikings are ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Campolindo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Max Robeson, who posted four points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those three steals gave Robeson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Rendle, who earned eight points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Northgate posted their closest victory since December 9, 2023 on Monday. They skirted past Alameda 63-61.

Northgate's win came from a few key players Campolindo will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nico Martin, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Grayson Boustead was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten assists.

Campolindo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points per game. As for Northgate, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Campolindo and Northgate are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Campolindo hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 58.9 points per game. However, it's not like Northgate struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Campolindo came up short against Northgate in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 68-64. Can Campolindo avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
