With a playoff win on the line, The Villages Charter rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Discovery Spartans, posting an 80-47 victory. The Buffalo have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 24 points or more this season.

Herly Brutus was his usual excellent self, going 5-for-8 en route to 21 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jared Thompson, who went 7-for-16 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Discovery lost, don't look at Darius Livingston. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points. The contest was Livingston's fifth in a row with at least 17 points. Eric Dailey was another key player, putting up ten points.

The win (which was The Villages Charter's eighth in a row) raised their record to 24-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.0 points over those games. As for Discovery, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-7.

The Villages Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 83-79 victory against Tampa Catholic on the 20th. Discovery does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
