The Tioga Pirates kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They were beaten by Westhope/Newburg 79-30. Tioga was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-9.

Walker Braaten was on fire for Westhope/Newburg: he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Bailey, who scored 19 points.
