Basketball Game Preview: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Washington County Golden Hawks

Dublin and Washington County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Dublin Fighting Irish will host the Washington County Golden Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dublin has five straight victories, Washington County has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, Dublin beat Dodge County 59-50. That's two games straight that the Fighting Irish have won by exactly nine points.

Dublin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aj Johnson led the charge by going 6 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matravious Linder, who posted 19 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Washington County came up short against Baldwin on Saturday and fell 60-53. While losing is never fun, the Golden Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Braves are ranked 80th).

Dublin's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.

Dublin skirted past Washington County 67-65 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Dublin repeat their success, or does Washington County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
