Softball Recap: West Ranch Wildcats vs. Vasquez Mustangs
West Ranch had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on the Vasquez Mustangs with a sharp 14-1 victory on Thursday. Considering West Ranch's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Krista Viereck was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Borland, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and two RBI.
West Ranch's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Vasquez, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11-1.
West Ranch will be playing at home against Quartz Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Quartz Hill will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something West Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vasquez, they are on the road again on Saturday to play Arleta at 9:00 a.m. Vasquez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
