Steele extended their home winning streak to eight games dating back to last season thanks to a huge performance from Joe Penano. The Comets walked away with a 3-1 victory over Avon Lake on Wednesday for which the team can thank Penano, who had 12 digs and seven aces. He has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last eight times he's played.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 24-26, 25-16, 25-13.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Springfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Start 3-0 on Thursday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-12, 25-21.

Steele's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.
