Softball Game Preview: Lower Merion Aces vs. Upper Darby Royals

Lower Merion hasn't had much luck against Upper Darby recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Lower Merion will host Upper Darby at 3:45 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Lower Merion is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Ridley, falling 14-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Aces were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Upper Darby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to Haverford.

Emma Hoyt was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Caralyn Battersby was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Lower Merion's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Upper Darby, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Lower Merion suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Upper Darby when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can Lower Merion avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
