Baseball Recap: Harrison Victorious

While Harrison's win against Vestaburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hornets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Wolverines on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won three in a row.

Harrison let Evan Umphrey and Nyxon Rhodes run wild. Umphrey went 1-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base, while Rhodes went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Those three runs gave Umphrey a new career-high. Josh O'Day was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Harrison's victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Vestaburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harrison will take on Ogemaw Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vestaburg, they will square off against Breckenridge at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
