Basketball Recap: Ponca City Wildcats vs. Charles Page Sandites
Ponca City lost against Charles Page back in January of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ponca City Wildcats were beaten by the Charles Page Sandites 100-41. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Sandites are ranked 11th).

Despite the defeat, Ponca City saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tavionne Akers shot 56% from the field en route to 15 points. Akers continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Donovan Harjo, who posted nine points.
Charles Page was led to victory by Deke Thompson and Khalil Allen. Thompson went 9-for-13 to rack up 23 points and six steals, while Allen shot 73% from the field on his way to 19 points and seven assists. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in each of the last 12 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kruz Smith, who earned ten points.
Ponca City dropped their record down to 4-22 with the loss, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for Charles Page, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-4.
