Baseball Recap: John Marshall Find Success

John Marshall took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against St. Clairsville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Monarchs had just enough and edged out the Red Devils 13-12. This was payback for the Monarchs, who suffered a 9-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Cain Martin, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. John Marshall is undefeated when Martin posts two or more runs, but 4-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Gaiser, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

John Marshall's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10. As for St. Clairsville, with the defeat, they broke their ten-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-2.

Coming up, John Marshall will challenge East Fairmont at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs are facing the Bees at the right time seeing as the Bees are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for St. Clairsville, they will take on Brooke at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bruins have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
