Baseball Recap: Medina Triumphs

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Medina and Menard, and Medina kept the tradition alive. The Bobcats walked away with a 9-4 win over the Yellowjackets on Tuesday. This was a revenge game for the Bobcats: when they faced off against the Yellowjackets last Friday, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

Davis Peterson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Peterson was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Holland Cook, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Swinney, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Medina's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Menard, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Coincidentally, Medina and Menard will both be playing Leakey the next time they take the field. The Bobcats will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Yellowjackets will host them at 4:30 p.m. on the 25th.
