League recap: Buena Vista extends winning streak with victory over Colorado Springs Christian

1A Tri-Peaks recap October 29, 2013

Buena Vista added to the longest winning streak in 1A Tri-Peaks this week by beating Colorado Springs Christian, 52-20. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

The Lions fell to Buena Vista 52-20 last week, the largest margin of any game. TJ Stockton was a bright spot for Colorado Springs Christian, as he ran for 119 yards in the loss.

Custer County's dynamic duo of Lane Byerly and Conner Rowley proved tough for Ellicott to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Byerly threw for 249 yards and 4 touchdowns and Rowley had 104 yards receiving. TJ Flynn helped Custer County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 70 yards.

He was 12-23 with 3 interceptions.

JaVonte' Stewart was a passing and rushing force as the Thunderhawks bested the Bobcats. He completed 10 passes for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 28 yards. Stewart's favorite target this week was Jarod Seery, who caught 3 passes for 88 yards.

Ellicott's Stewart and Jacob Crist led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stewart has thrown for 1,315 yards this season, while Crist has 31 catches for 774 yards. Sean Daniels from Rye leads the league in rushing with 1,293 yards.
