Basketball Recap: Westbury Christian Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Westbury Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 64-36 defeat at the hands of the St. Francis Episcopal Wolves. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 644th, while the Wolves are ranked 47th).

O'Marion Harvey was nothing short of spectacular for St. Francis Episcopal: he went 11 for 14 on his way to 28 points and five rebounds. Those 28 points gave Harvey a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nigel Walls, who went 5 of 6 en route to 11 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Westbury Christian's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-15. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Westbury Christian Wildcats duke it out with the Northland Christian Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northland Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 contests -- so hopefully Westbury Christian likes a good challenge. As for St. Francis Episcopal, they will face off against First Baptist Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis Episcopal is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season.
