Baseball Recap: Carlyle Comes Up Short

Carlyle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mater Dei Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians/Lady Indians of the 9-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Carlyle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Gray, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double.

Carlyle's record is now 9-12. As for Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlyle will venture away from home to take on Chester at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mater Dei, they will head out to square off against Mascoutah at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
