Recap: Mercy Monarchs vs. Plattsmouth Blue Devils
The Mercy Monarchs lost against the Plattsmouth Blue Devils back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Mercy took a 59-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plattsmouth. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mercy in their matchups with Plattsmouth: they've now lost three in a row.
Mercy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madisyn Grzebielski, who scored 22 points, and Rosa Tripp who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Leah Anthofer, who scored 4 points.
Plattsmouth's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jolie Dix, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashleigh Widick, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Mercy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Plattsmouth, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Mercy will head out on the road to face off against Bennington at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bennington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Plattsmouth, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Platteview at 6:00 p.m.
