Volleyball Recap: Olathe Comes Up Short

Olathe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Plateau Valley Cowboys. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pirates of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Olathe took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-11, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Olathe still got an impressive performance from Gwen Nelson, who had 40 digs and three assists. Nelson is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season.

Olathe's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Plateau Valley, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Olathe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Grand Valley on the 9th. As for Plateau Valley, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Meeker on the 11th.
