Basketball Recap: Valor Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Valor Preparatory Academy lost against Carolina International last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls were beaten by the Carolina International Comets 91-47. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 540th, while the Comets are ranked 104th).

Carolina International's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but KJ Shouse Jr. led the charge by going 8-for-11 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds. The match was Shouse Jr.'s seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Griffin, who went 10-for-13 on his way to 22 points.

Valor Preparatory Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Carolina International, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Valor Preparatory Academy will head out to square off against Jackson Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Jackson Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. Carolina International does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
