Roaring Fork and Aspen are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Roaring Fork Rams will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Aspen Skiers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Roaring Fork sitting on five straight victories and Aspen on seven.
Aspen better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Roaring Fork really get things going. Roaring Fork blew past Meeker 66-37 on Saturday. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Lucas Carballeira was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 21 on his way to 25 points and three steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. Sam Brennan was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.
Roaring Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Aspen was able to grind out a solid win over Delta on Saturday, taking the game 50-43. Given the Skiers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Panthers are ranked 198th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aspen found their leader in sophomore Jack Berro, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Henry Hurd, who went 6 of 14 en route to 12 points and six rebounds.
Roaring Fork has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Aspen, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Roaring Fork has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Aspen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.6 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Roaring Fork was dealt a bruising 67-37 loss at the hands of Aspen in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Roaring Fork avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
