Basketball Recap: Kodiak Takes a Loss

Kodiak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 62-38 to the Minto Lakers.

Leading Minto to victory were Jonathan David Jr. and Nicholas Roberts Jr.. David Jr. went 6-for-11 en route to 20 points in addition to six boards and three blocks, while Roberts Jr. shot 45% from the field on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Roberts Jr. is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Jeffery Frank III was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Kodiak's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Minto, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Kodiak will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wasilla at 7:30 p.m. on January 30, 2026. As for Minto, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-50 victory against Valdez on the 28th.
