Basketball Recap: Ottumwa Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Ottumwa and Mt. Pleasant meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Bulldogs were outmatched by the Panthers and fell 64-36. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Ottumwa has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.1 points over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Coming up, Ottumwa will face off against Ames at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant has already played their next game (against West Burlington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
