Baseball Recap: Springfield Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Springfield came into Tuesday's matchup having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Kirkwood Cobras on Tuesday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellow Jackets have posted since March 11th.

Springfield's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Timothy Bush, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Bush is becoming a predictor of the Yellow Jackets' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-11 when he doesn't).

Springfield's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 5-12. As for Kirkwood, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Springfield will take on Liberty Creek in a tournament on Thursday. As for Kirkwood, they are taking a road trip to face off against Logan County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
