Baseball Recap: Broughton Comes Up Short

Broughton fell victim to Cardinal Gibbons and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Capitals of the 11-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Broughton got a good showing from Jack Vannoy, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vannoy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

Broughton's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

While Broughton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
