Softball Recap: Holy Redeemer Continues Road Dominance on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake-Lehman, Holy Redeemer was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Berwick Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 on April 3rd.

Anne Carter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Hayden, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Holy Redeemer pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Redeemer will square off against Hanover Area at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawkeyes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Royals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Berwick, they will take on Central Columbia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
