Football Recap: Gabriella Cervantes' Menacing Defense Leads Hagerty over Crooms Academy

If Crooms Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Hagerty, they should've done a better job of containing Courtney Dusart. The Hagerty Huskies breezed past the Crooms Academy Panthers to the tune of 31-0 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Dusart, who threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of her passes. She didn't just play on offense: she also made two total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging an interception which she returned for a touchdown.

Hagerty didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gabriella Cervantes, Katherine Smith, Kayla Rrapi, and Dusart picked up one apiece. Dusart got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory got Hagerty back to even at 3-3. As for Crooms Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Hagerty will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lyman at 6:00 p.m. on March 27th. As for Crooms Academy, they will face off against Orlando Science at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
