Baseball Recap: Westmoor Wins Going Away Against Jefferson

Westmoor won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Thursday too. Westmoor blew past Jefferson 16-3. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Nicholas Au was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Tiernan Murphy was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leon Sakhel, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Westmoor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Westmoor and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Looking ahead, Westmoor will challenge El Camino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Westmoor's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while El Camino has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Jefferson, they will face off against Crystal Springs Uplands at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crystal Springs Uplands will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Jefferson surely won't give up without a fight.
