Baseball Recap: Bishop Kenny Takes a Loss

Bishop Kenny fell victim to Episcopal School of Jacksonville and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Episcopal School of Jacksonville Eagles, falling 6-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Crusaders were not able to get on the board.

Bishop Kenny got a good showing from Michael Valley, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Valley a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

At the plate, Bishop Kenny saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Heideman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Heideman has posted since back in February.

Bishop Kenny dropped their record down to 1-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Kenny will face off against Bolles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bolles is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Episcopal School of Jacksonville, they will challenge Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Episcopal School of Jacksonville also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.8 runs per game.
