Baseball Game Preview: Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders vs. Bethesda Christian Lions

The Azle Christian Fighting Crusaders will face off against the Bethesda Christian Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Azle Christian is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Azle Christian fell victim to Nazarene Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 12-0. That's two games in a row now that the Fighting Crusaders have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Bethesda Christian duked it out with Sacred Heart on Friday. The Lions blew past the Tigers 16-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by seven runs or more this season.

Parker Campbell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Bethesda Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-7 otherwise. Campbell was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, Bethesda Christian let Jayden Myers and Samuel Helm run wild. Myers scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Helm scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Jack Helm, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Bethesda Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Bethesda Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Azle Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Azle Christian suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Bethesda Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can the Fighting Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
