Softball Recap: Indian River Starts Season with Win Against Delmarva Christian

Indian River had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Delmarva Christian Royals a 10-0 shutout. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Gracie Hoban was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two triples. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Sophie Scurci was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Indian River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delmarva Christian only posted a batting average of .053.

Looking ahead, Indian River will take on Laurel at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Delmarva Christian, they will face off against St. Michaels at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
