Compton hasn't had much luck against Millikan recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tarbabes are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Compton comes in on four and Millikan on seven.
Compton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They skirted past Port of Los Angeles 1-0.
Not much got past Andrew Ruiz, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Port of Los Angeles off the board. Ruiz has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
Millikan came out on top against Templeton on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Rams put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 9-2 win. Considering the Rams have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Millikan got a great performance from AJ Nonato as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Lucas Helig was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ethan Briones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Millikan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Compton's record is now 13-5. As for Millikan, their record now sits at an identical 13-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Compton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Millikan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Compton suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Millikan in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Tarbabes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
