Baseball Game Preview: Minooka Indians vs. Lincoln-Way Central Knights

The Minooka Indians will venture away from home to take on the Lincoln-Way Central Knights at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Minooka's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Lincoln-Way Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Minooka is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lincoln-Way East, who was ranked third at the time (Minooka was ranked second). The Indians came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 11-7 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way Central waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Thunderbolts 2-0.

Minooka is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln-Way Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Minooka took their win against Lincoln-Way Central when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
