Football Game Preview: Farmington Phoenix vs. Lone Peak Knights + Official Tickets

Farmington is 0-3 against Lone Peak since September of 2019 but things could change on Friday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 3:00 p.m. Lone Peak took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Farmington, who comes in off a win.

Two weeks ago, Farmington strolled past Layton with points to spare, taking the game 26-10. The win continues a trend for the Phoenix in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Drew Love had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 156 yards and two TDs. Farmington is 2-1 when Love posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise.

Farmington didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Layton to a completion percentage of just 33.3%. The Phoenix weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 48.4%.

Farmington's defense didn't let Tillman Thomas, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Isaac Hogge, Alex Peterson, and Brandon Olson, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Lone Peak faced Lehi in a battle between two of the state's top teams on October 9th. The Knights were dealt a 34-6 loss at the hands of the Pioneers. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

The victory got Farmington back to even at 5-5. As for Lone Peak, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 5-4.

Farmington took a serious blow against Lone Peak when the teams last played back in September, falling 34-7. Can the Phoenix avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
