Soccer Game Preview: Burlingame vs. Carlmont

The Burlingame Panthers will take on the Carlmont Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlingame's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Burlingame didn't have quite enough to beat Aragon and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 769th, while the Dons are ranked 319th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlmont). Their defense stepped up to hand Sequoia a 3-0 shutout on Wednesday. The score was close at the half, but the Scots pulled away in the second half with two goals.

Burlingame's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8-2. As for Carlmont, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5-1.

Burlingame came up short against Carlmont when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 2-0. Can Burlingame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
