McAllen Memorial gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Hanna Golden Eagles 37-14. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won five in a row.

McAllen Memorial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kane Coy out in front who threw for 193 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes, and also rushed for 46 yards. That's the most passing yards Coy has posted since back in September of 2024. Another pass catcher making a difference was Michael Alaniz, who picked up 161 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Looking ahead, McAllen Memorial will head out to face off against Weslaco at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hanna, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Sharyland at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
