Soccer Recap: Laurel Takes a Loss

After flying high against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North last Tuesday, Laurel came back down to earth. The Laurel Spartans came up short against the Bladensburg Mustangs on Monday, falling 5-2. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Brian Duran-Escobar wasn't going to let Bladensburg walk away unscathed as he scored both of Laurel's goals, bringing his season total up to three goals.

Laurel now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Bladensburg, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-7-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel will square off against Northwestern at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bladensburg, their homestand will continue as they prepare to take on Wise at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
